About this shelter
Tomten Farm and Sanctuary in Haverhill, NH
Tomten Farm and Sanctuary is an animal shelter located in Haverhill, New Hampshire, roughly 25 miles northwest of Barre, VT. Founded on January 1, 2014, it operates a 75+ acre farm in the White Mountains providing lifelong sanctuary to more than 50 rescued animals, including horses, goats, cows, sheep, pigs, donkeys, mules, cats, and fowl, each with a unique story of having been saved from a difficult situation. The sanctuary's mission centers on offering peace, protection, and possibility through rescue, sanctuary, education, and occasional adoption, treating the farm as belonging to the animals themselves rather than to any owner. It also runs Petunia's Pantry, a short-term food assistance program helping Grafton County community members keep animals like horses, donkeys, goats, sheep, pigs, cows, cats, rabbits, chickens, and geese fed during times of hardship.
