The shelter is owned and operated as a subsidiary of the Rexburg Police Department, with a mission to care for animals and find them homes in the Rexburg area. Rather than being viewed only as a last resort, the shelter positions itself as a community resource, staffed by people trained in animal handling and behavior who can assist with obedience training, nuisance animal complaints, and reuniting lost pets with their families.
