The Humane Society of the Ouachitas is a no-kill shelter in Mena, Arkansas, serving the homeless animals of Polk County until permanent, caring homes can be found for them. It has been helping pets in need since 1978, offering low-cost spay/neuter and vaccination services and working toward the prevention of cruelty and neglect of animals under Arkansas law. Located about 60 miles north of Fort Smith, AR, the shelter is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Beyond adoptions, HSO supports the community through foster programs, volunteer opportunities, and low-cost spay/neuter clinics.
