About this shelter

Juneau Animal Rescue in Juneau, AK

Juneau Animal Rescue is a rescue organization located in Juneau, Alaska, about 6 miles southeast of the city. Founded in 1963 by community members dedicated to helping disadvantaged and homeless animals, it began as a small shed under the bridge over Gastineau Channel and adopted its current name in January 2019. As a private, non-profit shelter, it works to shelter stray, abandoned, and surrendered pets and find them loving homes, while also promoting animal welfare and strengthening the human-animal bond through education and protection. It is open Monday through Saturday from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM, and beyond adoptions it also offers services like dog boarding, doggy daycare, vaccine and microchip clinics, and animal control and protection for the City and Borough of Juneau.
