Brandywine Valley SPCA's Georgetown Campus is a humane society located in Georgetown, Delaware, roughly 15 miles north of Milford, DE. It's open Tuesday through Friday from 12:00–7:00 PM and Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 AM–5:00 PM. As part of the largest animal welfare organization in the region and one of the only remaining open-access shelters, it provides safety, love, and hope to lost pets, abandoned dogs and cats, cruelty victims, pets in need of rehoming, and homeless animals at risk of euthanasia elsewhere. Guided by the motto "putting the human back in humane," the organization cares for more than 27,000 animals a year, offering each dog and cat individual enrichment, such as daily dog playgroups, while they await adoption.

Adoption process

Visit the shelter on a walk-in basis (no appointment needed), choose an animal, fill out a "Getting to Know You" questionnaire, meet with an adoption counselor and the animal, then complete adoption paperwork and take your pet home the same day; adopters must be over 18 and bring a driver's license and payment by credit card.
