Cincinnati Animal CARE, also known as the Hamilton County Animal Shelter's Colerain Campus, is located about 4 miles southeast of Cincinnati, Ohio and is open daily from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM, seven days a week. As Hamilton County's animal shelter, it serves as the county's on-call 24/7 animal control provider and shelters nearly 9,000 homeless dogs, cats, and small animals annually, offering adoption, foster, and lost-and-found services. The organization describes its approach as "sheltering a different way," providing individualized care and life-saving solutions as temporary shelter en route to a safe, compatible home, with a vision of a community where all animals are valued, protected, and have a safe place to call home. It is a 501(c)3 nonprofit accredited through the Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance, supported by a team of more than 900 volunteers.

Adoption process

Visit one of their two Northside Cincinnati shelter locations in person (no appointment or pre-application needed) during open hours of 1-6pm daily; adoption paperwork is completed on-site, same-day adoptions are available, and a valid state ID is required.
