Pope Memorial Humane Society - Cocheco Valley is located at 221 County Farm Road in Dover, New Hampshire, about 4 miles southeast of the city. Formerly known as Cocheco Valley Humane Society, it offers dog, cat, and small animal adoptions and is committed to the safe and humane treatment of animals across the Seacoast of New Hampshire. The shelter's mission is guided by the motto "Adopt. Honor. Advocate.," and its current facility was made possible by a $1 million donation from lifelong animal lover Lyman Pope Jr. in 2017, whose continued support has since funded a 5,250-square-foot play area expansion with a roofed outdoor pavilion for training sessions and adoptee meet-and-greets. The Adoption Center is open Wednesday and Thursday from 12–4 PM and Friday and Saturday from 12–5 PM, with additional times available by appointment and animal surrenders accepted by appointment only.
