The Nebraska Humane Society is a private non-profit humane society located in Omaha, Nebraska, about 7 miles southeast of the city. It protects, saves and enriches the lives of animals through education, sanctuary, adoption promotion and responsible pet ownership programs, operating as an open-entry shelter that takes in all lost, abandoned, unwanted and mistreated pets. The organization also provides animal control services for Omaha and Sarpy County, offering medical care, spay/neuter, microchipping and behavior help such as its Molly Project, funded entirely through private donations rather than tax dollars. The shelter is open Monday through Friday from 12:00–7:00 PM and Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 AM–5:00 PM.
