The Humane Society of Charlotte is located at 1348 Parker Drive in Charlotte, North Carolina, about 2 miles east of the city center. For nearly 50 years it has worked to build a more compassionate Charlotte for animals and the people who love them, operating as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that finds loving homes for cats and dogs, performs spay/neuter surgeries, and offers essential veterinary care through its Pet Essential Care Clinic. The shelter also runs a pet food bank, community cat services, dog training, and youth and adult education programs, all supported without public funding. It's open to the public Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Friday from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and Saturday from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Adopters must be 18+ with valid photo ID and a form of payment; the process involves browsing available pets online, visiting the shelter to meet up to 2-3 animals, completing an adoption counselor conversation and paperwork, and finalizing adoption only after the animal has been spayed/neutered.
