Owensboro Humane Society in Owensboro, KY

The Owensboro Humane Society, located in Owensboro, Kentucky about 2 miles east of the city, has operated since 1968 as a 501(c)(3) charity dedicated to stopping abuse, neglect, and overbreeding of the local animal population. In 1999 it became a completely no-kill shelter, believing that all animals, including those with special needs or seniors, are adoptable, and it does not euthanize animals due to lack of space. The shelter works to connect adoptable animals with well-matched forever homes while also serving as a safe, nurturing sanctuary of last resort for those that aren't placed. It is open daily from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Sunday.

Applicants must be at least 21 with photo ID, agree to spay/neuter and microchip the pet, provide vet references, and sign a binding adoption contract; the process includes filling out an interest form, an interview, possibly a home check, and paying an adoption fee.
