It is Kentucky's largest pet adoption agency and spay/neuter provider, offering adoptions of dogs, cats, and horses as well as low-cost veterinary services through its mobile CARE-a-van clinic. The shelter also runs pet retention and food bank programs to help families keep their pets in their homes rather than surrendering them. It is open seven days a week, with hours Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 11:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Thursday from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
