Heart Of America Humane Society in Overland Park, KS
Heart of America Humane Society is a humane society based in Overland Park, Kansas. It is a 100% volunteer organization dedicated to finding good homes for animals, operating in pursuit of finding every pet a home. Rather than running its own shelter, it partners cooperatively with the Lee's Summit Municipal Animal Shelter and Kansas City Kansas Animal Services, and it holds adoption events most Saturdays at PetSmart locations in Olathe, Overland Park, and Lee's Summit. The organization also maintains a network of volunteer foster homes, which allows it to evaluate animals' behavior and traits outside the shelter environment to create better matches with adopters, and it runs a community outreach program as part of its long history of helping local pets.
