About this shelter

Atlanta Humane Society in Atlanta, GA

The Atlanta Humane Society is a no-kill animal welfare organization located in Atlanta, Georgia, about 4 miles southeast of the city center. It is open Tuesday through Sunday from 12:00 to 6:00 PM. For more than 150 years, the organization has served as a pillar of support for animals and people in the Atlanta community, helping homeless dogs and cats find loving homes, providing medical care to animals in need, and running outreach programs that uplift the wider community. Beyond adoption services, it operates a Crisis Response Center, offers foster and volunteer programs, and partners with organizations like the Rachael Ray Foundation to strengthen animal shelters across Georgia.

Adopting from Atlanta Humane Society

Adoption process

Prospective adopters browse adoptable dogs and cats online, then either visit a shelter location to adopt in person or submit a pre-adoption application for animals in foster care, followed by a meet-and-greet and finalizing the adoption with a cashless payment of the adoption fee. Adopters must be at least 18 with valid ID, and renters may need landlord permission.
