The Stamford Animal Shelter Alliance is an animal shelter located in Stamford, Connecticut, open daily Monday through Sunday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM and situated about 1 mile south of Stamford. It is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit formed by the City of Stamford to serve as the official fundraising arm of the Stamford Animal Control & Care Center (SACCC), the city's municipal shelter, collecting donations and raising money to support the care of Stamford's homeless and lost animals. Its board is a public/private partnership combining Stamford city officials with community volunteers, and its primary current goal has been the construction of a new, state-of-the-art shelter to replace the roughly 60-year-old existing facility, featuring improved kennel layouts, quarantine/isolation rooms, more natural light, additional cat space, and a welcoming community entrance. Construction on the new shelter is underway, with the foundation and walls already in place.
