Adoption Process

The adoption process consists of several steps. First, prospective adopters must complete an application. Next, we conduct a screening and reference check to ensure suitability. Following this, a home check is performed to assess the environment for the pet. After these preliminary steps, potential adopters will have a meet and greet with the dog to determine compatibility. Once a match is made, an adoption contract is signed. After the contract is finalized, the adoption is officially completed. Additionally, we will conduct a post-adoption follow-up to ensure the well-being of the pet. Finally, we assist with the registration of the microchip for the adopted dog.

Cascade Beagle Rescue in Portland, OR

Our mission is to rescue unwanted, neglected, abused, and homeless beagles, as well as those at risk of euthanasia. We provide these dogs with the emotional, medical, and behavioral support they need to be adopted into loving, permanent homes. We are a committed group of volunteers collaborating to fulfill this mission. With hubs in Portland, Oregon and the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, we are able to serve virtually any state in the U.S. and some regions of Canada. Our primary focus is on shelter beagles at risk of euthanasia, followed by medical cases from shelters. Additionally, we have programs for beagles that have been used as bait in fighting operations, in puppy mills, or in laboratory research. We rescue these dogs, provide foster care, and rehabilitate them until they are ready for adoption. Each dog remains in our care until the right match is found, ensuring they are placed in "the home" rather than just "a home." Our motivation is simple: we do this for the dogs. Our love for the breed drives us to seek out homes where these beagles can enjoy the kind of life that our own pets experience—forever.
