Adoption Process

The adoption fee for kittens is $150, while the fee for cats aged one year and older is $100. Interested individuals are required to submit an application through our website. Once the application is approved, potential adopters will be matched with foster caregivers who have available cats or kittens for a meet and greet. Applicants must agree to the following guidelines when submitting their application: I will adopt this cat for my personal care and will not give, trade, or sell it at any point during its life. If I can no longer provide care for this cat, I will return it to Smelly Cat Rescue. This cat will be treated as a family member, receiving love, affection, clean living conditions, fresh food and water daily, and annual veterinary care. The cat will live indoors and will only go outside in a secure manner, such as with a proper leash, harness, carrier, or backpack. I recognize that cats naturally scratch various surfaces, including furniture. I understand that there are safe and affordable alternatives to discourage this behavior. I acknowledge that declawing is a painful and inhumane procedure, and I agree to refrain from declawing at any time. Adult cats are often overlooked as strays, especially if they are not wearing collars. My cat will be microchipped, but I will also provide a "breakaway" collar with an ID tag and will make every effort to ensure that the collar is always worn. Smelly Cat Rescue will not be responsible for any future medical expenses, injuries, property damage, or legal issues arising from my ownership of this cat. I understand that failing to uphold the responsibilities outlined in this agreement will constitute a breach of contract, and I authorize Smelly Cat Rescue to reclaim possession of the adopted cat in such an event. We offer a 21-day medical return policy. If a medical condition arises within the first 21 days of ownership that I feel unable to manage or that should have been disclosed, Smelly Cat Rescue will accept the cat back and refund the adoption fee. However, Smelly Cat Rescue will not reimburse any veterinary or other care expenses incurred during this 21-day period.
