Adoption Process

Adopters must fill out an adoption application, which is forwarded to the dog's foster parent. The process includes checking personal and veterinarian references, conducting a home visit, and arranging a meeting for the adopters to meet the dog. If the adoption is approved, the adopter will complete an Adoption Contract, and the dog will officially belong to them. The adoption fee for most dogs is $275.

Needy Paws Rescue, based in St. Louis, MO, is committed to rescuing animals in peril, particularly those at high-kill shelters, strays, and dogs that have been abandoned or whose families are experiencing crises, without regard to size or breed. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that relies entirely on donations to support our mission. Our organization is comprised of volunteers with extensive experience in various animal rescues throughout the St. Louis area. We leverage our knowledge to positively impact the lives of these animals. We emphasize the importance of spaying and neutering, as it contributes to the health and happiness of pets and helps mitigate overpopulation. All animals we rescue are spayed or neutered, microchipped for identification, and brought up to date on vaccinations before they are placed in their forever homes. We operate on a foster basis, with all pets staying in approved foster homes that have undergone inspections and reference checks to ensure they are capable of caring for our rescued animals while they await adoption. Our commitment is to find the most suitable forever homes, which involves conducting home visits, veterinarian checks, and reference checks to guarantee that the pets will be placed in safe, loving environments. New families will receive guidance on pet care and how to foster a rewarding relationship with their new companion. As our rescue is funded solely through donations, we appreciate any contributions to assist with veterinary care and supplies.
