Open Door Animal Sanctuary is an animal shelter located in Saint Louis, Missouri, in St. Louis County, roughly 10 miles northeast of St. Louis and among 21 other animal shelters and rescues serving the same county. Founded in 1975, it is the largest no-kill shelter in the greater St. Louis area and the State of Missouri, taking in stray, abused, neglected, and otherwise unwanted cats and dogs. Its mission is to provide these animals with the highest quality of life and a second chance to find a forever family, and it currently provides shelter, food, medical care, and daily attention to more than 400 animals.

Complete an adoption questionnaire, meet the animal, and then have a home visit scheduled before the adoption is finalized; adoption fees are $75 for cats and $150 for dogs, puppies, and kittens.
