Adoption Process

We only place dogs in indoor homes where they will not be allowed to roam freely or be tied outside. If a dog is no longer wanted, we will always take them back. The adoption process requires the completion of an application and a home visit prior to finalizing the adoption. Our veterinary protocol includes vaccinations for parvo and distemper, Bordetella, and rabies, as well as deworming, spaying or neutering, heartworm testing, and microchipping. Adoption fees range from $150 to $200.

In our area, there are numerous animal rescues, but they are struggling to meet the growing demand for a safe haven for abandoned and stray dogs. Route 66 Rescue is launching a campaign to raise funds for a no-kill shelter that will accept dogs from the public. We will continue our rescue efforts while we work towards establishing this shelter.
