Adoption Process
The adoption process at Serendipity German Shepherd Dog Rescue involves several steps designed to ensure a good match between the dog and the adopter. Initially, interested adopters are encouraged to fill out an adoption application. This application gathers essential information about the potential adopter's lifestyle, preferences, and readiness for pet ownership. Once the application is submitted, the organization will review it and may conduct a phone interview to discuss the applicant's needs and expectations. Following this, a home visit is typically arranged to assess the living environment and ensure it is suitable for a dog. If the home visit is successful and both parties feel confident about the match, the adoption can proceed. Adopters will be required to sign an adoption contract and pay an adoption fee, which helps cover the costs of the dog's care and medical expenses. Post-adoption support is available to help ensure a smooth transition for both the dog and the new owner. The organization encourages open communication and is willing to assist with any questions or concerns that may arise after the adoption.

Serendipity German Shepherd Dog Rescue in St. Louis, MO
Serendipity German Shepherd Dog Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization run entirely by volunteers. Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home German Shepherd Dogs that have been abandoned, abused, or neglected. Located in St. Louis, Missouri, we strive to assist dogs across the entire Midwest. When our program reaches capacity, we collaborate with other German Shepherd rescue organizations to help transport dogs to safety in their facilities. We do not operate a shelter facility. Instead, our rescue dogs are placed in foster homes throughout Missouri and Illinois, where they are treated as family members until they are fully vetted, evaluated, and matched with new families. These foster homes play a crucial role in assessing each dog's needs and personality to ensure a suitable adoption. Upon entering our program, each dog undergoes a thorough examination by a veterinarian. They receive vaccinations, deworming, spay or neuter surgery, microchipping, and testing for heartworm disease, with treatment provided if necessary. We also address any additional medical needs specific to each dog. Our adoption fees help cover a portion of the costs associated with this high standard of veterinary care.
