Adoption Process

The adoption process begins when the adopter completes an application. A volunteer then screens the applicant, checking references as part of the assessment. Following this, a home visit is conducted. If the applicant is approved, they will be introduced to the dog's foster parent, and a meet-and-greet will be scheduled. If the meeting goes well, the adopter will sign the adoption contract, pay the adoption fee, and may take the dog home. The organization will provide veterinary records and transfer the microchip to the new owner. A volunteer will continue to stay in touch with the adopter to ensure the transition is smooth and to offer support if needed. Should the dog not be a good fit or if the adopter's situation changes, the organization will take the dog back.

Texas Cattle Dog Rescue in Fort Worth, TX

Texas Cattle Dog Rescue (TCDR) is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization committed to the welfare of animals. Our primary focus is on rescuing stray and abandoned Australian Cattle Dogs. We provide medical care and foster homes for these dogs before finding them loving, permanent homes. TCDR operates by rescuing dogs from city and county shelters throughout Texas and facilitating their adoption across the state. Our mission is to significantly decrease the number of heelers that are euthanized in Texas shelters. We strive to match each rescued dog with a loving forever home where they will be cared for and appreciated. Educating current and prospective dog owners is essential to our approach, as it enables us to make suitable matches between dogs and families. We advocate for spaying and neutering to help control pet overpopulation, and we ensure that all rescued dogs are healthy and vaccinated before adoption.
