Greyhound Pets of America - Emerald Coast / NW Florida in Pensacola, FL
Greyhound Pets of America - Emerald Coast / NW Florida is an animal shelter based in Pensacola, Florida, located in Escambia County, where 12 other animal shelters and rescues also operate; it sits roughly 50 miles west of Mobile, Alabama. GPAEC specializes in retired racing greyhounds, working to find them responsible, loving homes while educating the public on their desirability as pets and calm, affectionate nature. Florida's greyhound racing tracks were historically its main source of adoptable dogs, but since a 2020 constitutional amendment ended greyhound racing in the state, GPAEC now primarily serves as a safety net for previously adopted greyhounds in need of rehoming. The organization is a registered charity in Florida, holding registration number CH10771.
