Adoption Process

To adopt an animal, you must first submit an approved adoption application. A veterinary check of your current and past pets is required. Additionally, a home assessment or home visit with all family members, including current pets, must be conducted. If the adoption proceeds, an Adoption Contract must be signed. A Spay/Neuter Agreement is required if the animal has not been altered at the time of adoption. Should the adoption not be successful, the animal must be returned to the rescue. An adoption fee is also required, which varies based on the age and health of the animal. Special rates are available for seniors adopting senior pets.

We serve nearly all counties, cities, and towns in Michigan, provided we can verify the suitability of an adopter through our evaluation process and have approved transportation available.

Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue is a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing animals at risk of euthanasia. Our primary mission is to provide these animals with a second chance by placing them in foster homes while seeking adoptive families for them. Many of the animals we assist come from overcrowded or underfunded county shelters and pounds in both urban and rural areas.
