Adoption Process

Adoption Screening Guidelines To be considered for adoption, all potential adopters must complete both sides of the adoption application in full. Applicants must be at least 21 years old and provide a valid ID that includes their current address. An adoption fee of $250 is required. Consent for the adoption must be obtained from all adults residing in the household. Adopters must demonstrate a commitment to the animal for its lifetime. All applications will be reviewed by our Board to ensure they are complete. Any questions regarding the application will be directed to the adoption screener for clarification. The adoption screener will verify with the veterinarian that all pets currently living in the household are up to date on vaccinations, heartworm prevention, and have been spayed or neutered. If the veterinarian's verification is satisfactory, the adoption screener will contact at least two references provided by the applicant. Following positive feedback from the vet and references, a home visit will be conducted. Once all criteria are met and approved, the adoption screener will inform the foster caregiver. The foster will then reach out to the potential adopter to address any further questions and arrange for the new pet to meet any existing animals in the household. If the animals accept each other, the adoption process will be finalized. Sanilac Scoopers retains the right to ensure the best placement for each animal. We are dedicated to finding loving, permanent homes. Requirements such as a fenced yard may differ based on the individual animal, as may the suitability for placement with children.

Making Miracles Animal Rescue in Hazel Park, MI

We are a dedicated rescue group comprised entirely of foster homes. When we lack sufficient foster placements, we provide boarding for dogs. Our organization ensures that all pets receive veterinary care, including spaying/neutering, vaccinations, heartworm prevention, and flea treatment. We frequently rescue animals that other organizations may deem unadoptable due to conditions such as broken hips, broken legs, or heartworm. In the past year, we have successfully rehabilitated two dogs with broken hips, two with broken legs, and at least two heartworm-positive dogs. Our team is entirely volunteer-based and does not receive any government funding. Additionally, we emphasize the importance of spaying and neutering through educational outreach, referring individuals to All About Animals Spay/Neuter clinics and providing literature on proper veterinary care. We are committed to the belief that every dog and cat deserves a safe, loving, and nurturing forever home with appropriate care and training.
