Adoption Process

All dogs available for adoption are spayed or neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested, and include a one-year license for residents of Ingham County. Cats are tested for feline leukemia, spayed or neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. The standard adoption fees are as follows: Puppies aged 5 months and under: $135 Dogs aged 6 months to 6 years: $101 Dogs aged 6 years and older: $57 Cats under 6 years: $82 Cats aged 6 years and older: $45 Discounted adoption fees are available for senior citizens and on Whisker Wednesdays.

Ingham County Animal Control and Shelter in Mason, MI

Ingham County Animal Control is committed to safeguarding the community from issues related to dangerous and nuisance domestic animals. The department employs six Animal Control Deputies, each sworn in by the Ingham County Sheriff. These deputies are authorized to enforce specific laws of the State of Michigan as well as the Ingham County Animal Control Ordinance. Dispatch services are available to take calls from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Monday through Friday. On Saturdays, two deputies and a dispatcher are on duty to handle complaints from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The kennel staff consists of four individuals responsible for ensuring that all pets are clean, well-fed, and properly hydrated on a daily basis. In the office, three clerks are available to assist with locating lost pets or purchasing new ones, as well as facilitating dog licensing.
