Adoption Process

The adoption fee for kittens is $185, which includes any necessary follow-up vaccinations and spaying or neutering at the appropriate age. For teens and adult cats, the adoption fee is $85, and these animals are already fully vetted, including vaccinations and spaying or neutering. We require potential adopters to complete a questionnaire and participate in an interview. A contract is signed at the time of adoption. After the adoption, we will follow up shortly to ensure that the cat is adjusting well to its new home.

tlc Rescue Inc. in Mt. Vernon, NY

tlc Rescue is a newly established not-for-profit organization that has applied for public charity status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. It was founded by three women dedicated to preventing homelessness, neglect, and abuse of animals, particularly cats and dogs. Our rescue efforts primarily focus on the southern region of Westchester County, New York. We frequently collaborate with other rescue organizations and shelters that often lack sufficient space for their cats to roam freely. Our guiding philosophy is that no cat should be confined to a cage, except when necessary for temporary medical care. We believe that cats require space to play, relax, and interact with both each other and humans in an open environment. Our facility includes six rooms designed for cats, each equipped with large windows, pet beds, scratching posts, cat trees, and numerous toys to keep the cats engaged throughout the day. We provide designated areas for newly rescued cats to recover from spay or neuter surgeries in isolation until we can assess their compatibility with other cats for adoption. Additionally, we offer essential aftercare space for feral cats participating in our Trap Neuter Release (TNR) program, which aims to address animal overpopulation. While our current focus includes assisting dogs in need through partnerships with other groups, we aspire to expand our services to provide more direct assistance to dogs in the future.
