Adoption Process

Welcome to Last Chance Animal Rescue, and thank you for choosing to adopt a rescue pet. We are delighted to assist you in finding a dog that will be a beloved companion for you and your family for many years. We are grateful that you have chosen to adopt from us and are committed to making this process a positive experience. Please take a moment to review our adoption guidelines below. These guidelines are designed to facilitate the adoption process, but we are open to discussing any unique circumstances you may have. Our goal is to find safe, responsible, and loving homes for our animals. To adopt a dog, you must: - Be at least 21 years old and possess a valid ID with a current, verifiable address. - Reside in stable housing and provide a verifiable phone number. - Ensure that all adults in the household consent to the adoption and are willing to help care for the pet. - Make sure that all children in the home are mature enough to behave appropriately and interact safely with the pet. - If you are a renter, provide a copy of your lease or other proof from your landlord that pets are allowed. - Have the financial means to care for the pet now and in the foreseeable future, which includes routine and emergency veterinary care, quality food, necessary supplies, and any applicable pet deposits or pet rent if you live in rental housing. - Agree to properly train the dog and have the financial capability and willingness to seek professional training or behavioral help if needed. - Provide consistent veterinary care, food, water, exercise, training, and kind treatment. - Create a safe and pleasant environment for the pet, ensuring they receive love and attention, and avoid leaving them alone for extended periods without companionship. - Commit to adopting the pet as a permanent family member and be willing to adapt as necessary to accommodate the pet as your lifestyle changes. - Complete the Adoption Application and participate in a phone and/or in-person interview. - Be prepared to provide personal and veterinary references. - Understand that the Adoption Application will take approximately 3-5 days to process and approve, as we are entirely volunteer-run. - Be ready to adopt immediately, as we do not hold animals for prospective adopters. - Sign a legally binding Adoption Contract and pay the Adoption Fee.

Last Chance Animal Rescue in Holbrook, NY
