Adoption Process
Our adoption process starts with submitting an application. Once your application is received, it is forwarded to the foster family of the puppy you are interested in. The foster family will review your application and arrange a suitable time for you to meet the puppy. After meeting the puppy, you can decide whether to proceed with the adoption. The foster family will also assess whether they believe you are a suitable match for the puppy. If both parties are in agreement, we can proceed with the adoption. Upon moving forward, you will receive a text message from Shelterluv at the phone number you provided in your application. This message will contain the adoption contract for you to sign, as well as a payment link. If you plan to adopt the puppy on the same day as the meeting, please ensure that both the payment and the contract are completed prior to taking the puppy home. Otherwise, you can coordinate a pick-up time with the foster family. After the adoption is finalized, you will receive the puppy's medical records within two weeks. Our adoption contract includes a spay/neuter agreement, which states that you agree to have your puppy sterilized or scheduled for sterilization within 30 days after the six-month mark. If the puppy is already older than six months, this must be completed within 30 days of adoption. If you choose to have your puppy sterilized through us, we will contact you as you approach the six-month mark and will submit a request to our veterinary partners, Golden Valley Animal Hospital or St. Paul Animal Hospital. We will provide you with a list of necessary information for this request, and the cost of sterilization will be covered by us. If you decide to use your own veterinarian, you will need to submit proof of sterilization to us, and we will reimburse you $100. Adoption fees are as follows: for puppies aged 8 weeks to 4 years, the fee is $537.50; for dogs aged 4 to 7 years, the fee is $456.88; and for dogs aged 7 years and older, the fee is $349.38.
