Adoption process

All prospective adopters are required to complete an adoption application, which includes providing veterinary records for any current or previous pets. The adoption process involves an interview and a home visit. Once these steps are successfully completed, the potential adopter will have the opportunity to meet dogs that are suitable for their family and living situation. An adoption contract must be signed, which includes a provision allowing RCBR to conduct follow-up visits and reclaim the dog if any terms of the contract are violated. Dogs can only be adopted after they have been spayed or neutered, or once any necessary medical treatments have been completed. Additionally, an extra training contract is required for dogs that need further training. If the adoptive family is unable to keep the dog long-term, they are obligated to return the dog to RCBR. RCBR must also be informed if the family plans to euthanize the dog due to illness, old age, or behavioral issues, at which point RCBR may choose to reclaim the dog.
