Adoption Process
Before adoption, candidates must complete an application. We will perform a criminal background check, conduct reference checks, arrange a home visit, and facilitate a meet and greet to ensure a proper fit.

Matty's Heart & Soul Animal Rescue in Minneapolis, MN
In late October 2012, I began noticing Matty's picture on the MG Impound Dogs page. Matty and his companion, Athena, were in quarantine due to a bite incident involving a minor injury caused by either dog. While their owners were aware of their situation, they lacked the financial means to cover the associated fees and veterinary care. Athena was eventually rescued, but I felt a strong connection to Matty, especially after seeing a photo of him sitting on his owner Cheryl's shoes. I reached out to numerous rescue organizations, both large and small, requesting that they take Matty into their care, but I was consistently offered other dogs instead. As Matty's time at the shelter dwindled, and with a euthanasia date approaching, I was devastated. Fortunately, on the day before he was scheduled to be euthanized, Amber from One of a Kind Pet Rescue agreed to rescue him for me. I was overjoyed when I picked Matty up from the shelter on January 2, 2013. While he had his challenges, he was the perfect companion for me and did not become another statistic. Matty became my heart and soul, helping both me and my other dog Cheyenne recover from the grief of losing my Chow Chow, Teddy, to lymphoma. Matty's arrival marked the beginning of my journey into animal rescue. Though I have not been involved for long, I have taken on various roles within different rescues, including vetting, intake, fostering, and event coordination, and I have fostered around 100 puppies. Before Matty, I was unaware of the issues facing abandoned and neglected animals. With my newfound awareness, Matty and I, along with some friends, are committed to making a greater impact in the lives of dogs and cats, helping them find their second chance at love and life, just as Matty did. Matty's Heart & Soul Animal Rescue is dedicated to restoring hope to discarded, abandoned, neglected, and abused dogs and cats. Our mission is to provide them with the care they need in a loving foster environment until they find their forever homes. We aim to be their voice and rectify the injustices they have faced.
