Adoption Process

Our adoption process begins with the submission of an adoption application. Once we review your application and contact your veterinarian and personal references, we will arrange a meeting between you and the pet. This meeting can take place at the foster's home or another animal-friendly location. If you have any resident pets, they must also meet the potential new pet at this time. Following the meeting, a home visit by one of our representatives is mandatory before finalizing the adoption. We also require that all members of the household meet the pet during the adoption process. Additionally, we conduct a follow-up check-in six months after the adoption.

We serve all of Minnesota and parts of Wisconsin.

Wags and Whiskers Animal Rescue of MN in Farmington, MN

Wags & Whiskers Animal Rescue is a nonprofit organization recognized under section 501(c)(3) that is committed to saving lives and finding permanent homes for stray, abandoned, and surrendered dogs from high-kill shelters. As a small, volunteer-run organization, all of our animals are placed in foster homes where we can closely observe their personalities. This allows us to effectively match each dog with a suitable adopter. We do not operate a physical shelter and rely primarily on adoption fees to sustain our operations, as we do not receive public funding or substantial donations. We provide all necessary supplies and cover the medical expenses for our foster animals until they are adopted.
