Adoption Process

All prospective adopters are required to complete an application and participate in an interview. Our adoption facilitators will guide them through the shelter to help identify the ideal pet that fits their lifestyle. Once a potential adopter expresses interest in a specific animal, a cool-down period is initiated. We conduct veterinary reference checks and follow up with telephone calls on Mondays to confirm the potential adopters' continued interest. Following this telephone interview, a home visit will be arranged, and the chosen animal will be delivered to its new home. Our adoption fees are $85 for one cat or kitten and $130 for two cats or kittens. These fees cover various procedures that have already been completed, including: - Feline Leukemia and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus tests - Distemper vaccinations - Rabies booster - Preventative deworming - Spaying or neutering for all cats aged eight months or older - An adoption folder that includes an "Animal Health Log Sheet" detailing the cat's health history Kittens must be adopted in pairs if there are no other cats in the home; other pets such as dogs or birds, as well as people and children, do not count towards this requirement. Under no circumstances will our animals leave the shelter on the same day they are signed up for adoption.

Happy Endings No Kill Cat Shelter in Milwaukee, WI

Happy Endings is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, no-kill organization that has been operating since 1994 and is entirely run by volunteers. Our mission is to find permanent homes for stray, abused, or unwanted animals that are either brought to us or rescued from the streets. Happy Endings offers a safe haven for all cats, including feral, stray, abused, neglected, and critically injured animals. We provide medical care to those who are ill and offer a supportive environment for all animals until they are ready for adoption. We are committed to never euthanizing any animal for convenience; euthanasia is only considered in cases where a veterinarian determines that the animal is experiencing terminal suffering.
