Adoption Process
At JustCare Animal Rescue, our primary goal is to match companion animals with their ideal forever homes. We take all necessary steps to ensure that both the animal and the adopting family are comfortable with the permanent placement. We aim to create a sense of community among our adopters, so if you are not comfortable with a home visit or ongoing communication throughout your new pet's life, JustCare may not be the right fit for you. The adoption process consists of several key steps: Step one – Adoption Application Our adoption applications are available online. Completing the application, which varies for cats and dogs, is the first step to bringing your new pet home. Once submitted, the application is sent directly to our email inbox. After we receive the form, we will contact the personal and veterinary references you provided and evaluate your lifestyle to determine which pet may be the best match for your home. Step two – Home Visit JustCare typically requires a home visit for each potential adopter that our team members, Sabine and Ashley, do not know personally. This visit is conducted to ensure that your home is suitable for the specific animal you are interested in. It will be a brief yet thorough assessment of your home and yard, carried out by two JustCare volunteers or by Ashley and Sabine themselves. Step three – Meet & Greet Once it is confirmed that your home is appropriate for the animal, we will arrange for you and your family to meet the pet. For cats, this meeting will take place on-site at JustCare Animal Rescue in Oakville, WA, by appointment. For dogs, the meeting will occur either at the foster's home or at a neutral location, such as a park, particularly if you have other dogs. Step four – Trial If you decide to proceed with adopting a specific animal, a trial adoption period will be established. Typically, this trial period lasts two weeks for dogs and approximately six weeks for cats. If you find that the pairing is not a good fit during this trial, we will issue a full refund of the adoption fee, and the animal will return to the rescue or foster home.

JustCare Animal Rescue in Oakville, WA
We are a dedicated group of volunteers in the Thurston and Grays Harbor County areas who are committed to rescuing stray and feral cats, as well as other homeless animals. Our organization operates with a focus on ensuring that every dollar raised is directed towards the care of these animals; we do not compensate ourselves or our volunteers, except for reimbursement of necessary supplies. We aim to educate the community about trap/neuter/vaccinate/return (TNVR) programs to foster understanding and compassion towards homeless cats. Our mission is to decrease the feral and often unhealthy cat population through TNVR initiatives, while also providing information on free spay and neuter services for feral and free-roaming cats, as well as low-cost options for pet owners. Additionally, we seek to assist dogs that are at risk of euthanasia in high-kill shelters across the county. In cases where trapped animals cannot be returned due to health or safety concerns, we provide them with medical care and work to find them a loving permanent home or barn. We occasionally extend our efforts to help other animals in need as well.
