Adoption Process

Chihuahua Rescue and Referrals is dedicated to finding loving homes for Chihuahuas in need. The adoption process begins with an application that prospective adopters must complete. This application helps us understand your lifestyle, preferences, and the environment you can provide for a Chihuahua. Once your application is submitted, it will be reviewed by our team. If your application meets our criteria, we will contact you for a phone interview to discuss your application in more detail. This conversation allows us to answer any questions you may have and ensures that you are fully prepared for pet ownership. After the interview, we may arrange a home visit to assess the environment where the dog will be living. This step is important to ensure a safe and comfortable home for the Chihuahua. If everything goes well, we will arrange for you to meet potential dogs available for adoption. We encourage you to spend time with the dog to see if you are a good match. Once you find the right Chihuahua, you will complete the adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee. This fee helps cover the costs of care, vaccinations, and spaying or neutering the dog. After the adoption, we provide ongoing support and resources to help you and your new pet adjust to each other and thrive together. Our goal is to ensure a successful transition and a lasting bond between you and your Chihuahua.
