Adoption Process
All potential adopters must complete an application process that includes submitting a written or digital application, providing three personal references, obtaining a veterinary reference, and participating in a home visit. After adoption, we conduct follow-up checks at one week to ensure a suitable match between the dog and family, again at one month to share a "happy tail," and then annually thereafter. The adoption fees are as follows: For Dachshunds: - Under 1 year: $325 - Ages 1 to 5 years: $275 - Ages 6 to 9 years: $250 - Ages 10 years and older: $150 - Senior Long On Love Program: $75 for seniors (60 years and older) adopting dogs aged 10 years and older. For Dachshund Mixes: - Under 1 year: $250 - Ages 1 to 5 years: $200 - Ages 5 to 9 years: $150 - Ages 10 years and older: $100 or a reduced fee determined on a case-by-case basis. - Senior Long On Love Program: $75 for seniors (60 years and older) adopting dogs aged 10 years and older. For Special Needs Dachshunds or Mixes, a fee of $150 or a reduced fee may be determined on a case-by-case basis. Service Areas
We will initially focus on serving the southern states of South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, and Virginia. We are in the process of submitting our unified paperwork to obtain approval for adoption in the northern states of New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Jersey, Connecticut, New York, and Rhode Island. We are pleased to announce that we have now received approval in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

Little Paws Dachshund Rescue is a non-profit organization dedicated to finding permanent homes for dachshunds. Our mission is to identify abandoned, mistreated, or homeless dogs and ensure their care and well-being while actively seeking loving owners for those in our custody. We aim to improve the lives of all dogs through our efforts in action, advocacy, awareness, and education. Our board of directors consists of eight individuals with diverse backgrounds in animal rescue and non-profit management. We are united by our passion for dachshunds and a deep understanding of their unique needs and characteristics. Our goal is to make a positive impact on the lives of dachshunds, one dog at a time.
