Adoption Process

The adoption process at PetConnect begins with an initial contact. An adoption coordinator will reach out to you, or you may proactively call or email the designated coordinator for further information. As a volunteer organization, we strive to respond as quickly as possible, typically within 24 hours. Once you have discussed the pet you are interested in with an adoption coordinator and wish to proceed, we will arrange a meeting for you to visit the pet at their foster home. Following your meeting with the pet, a home visit will be scheduled. This visit aims to ensure the rescue animal will be placed in a safe environment and to facilitate the adoption process. PetConnect processes applications in the order they are received, but we prioritize matching the right animal with the right family to promote successful adoptions. Given the challenges these animals have faced, our mission is to place them in loving and secure homes. An adoption fee is required for all rescues. This fee helps cover the medical care, spaying/neutering, transportation, and foster costs associated with rescuing each animal, as our expenses often exceed the adoption fees. All animals from PetConnect must be spayed or neutered to help address the issue of overpopulation. Adoption fees are as follows: - Dogs: $250 - Cats: $125 - An additional $100 deposit is required for puppies and kittens. It is medically recommended to spay or neuter puppies and kittens after they reach six months of age. PetConnect will refund the $100 deposit for puppies and kittens upon receipt of proof of spaying or neutering. Discounts are available for the adoption of senior pets.

PetConnect Rescue in Potomac, MD

PetConnect Rescue was established in 2005 in response to the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and has since developed into a dynamic animal rescue organization. Our mission is to rescue abandoned dogs and cats and place them in loving, permanent homes. Each day, we respond to requests for assistance regarding animals facing imminent euthanasia, pulling them from overcrowded local and rural shelters ranging from West Virginia to Georgia. PetConnect Rescue is non-breed specific and is dedicated to assisting wherever there is the greatest need. We ensure that all rescued animals receive necessary medical care, which may include routine services like vaccinations and blood tests, as well as treatment for serious medical issues such as broken bones and embedded collars. Every animal in our care is spayed or neutered to help address the significant problem of pet overpopulation. Most of our rescues are placed in foster homes, although some are housed in reputable kennels or veterinary practices. Our foster volunteers provide essential love and socialization to these animals while they await their forever homes. Through donation drives, we supply our foster families with necessary items such as crates, food, collars, toys, and bedding. In the fall of 2009, PetConnect Rescue partnered with The Kyra Macy Foundation, which enabled us to acquire a five-acre property in Leesburg, VA. This property is being renovated to serve as a sanctuary and wellness center for our animals, with plans to begin receiving dogs and cats in the fall of 2010. The central mission of PetConnect Rescue is to rescue abandoned animals and find them safe, loving, and permanent homes. Many potential adopters express their willingness to wait for a pet from us due to the comfort and trust they feel while working with our organization. We strive to eliminate the anxiety and uncertainty often associated with pet adoption and provide support throughout the entire process. The level of volunteer commitment is inspiring; thanks to their dedication, we can find loving homes for animals who might otherwise not have a chance. From high-kill shelters to foster homes and finally to adoptive families, PetConnect Rescue manages every aspect of the rescue process.
