Adoption Process

The adoption process begins with the applicant filling out Kim's Nurturing Nest Animal Sanctuary Adoption Form after meeting the animal. The adoption fees are $200 for a single cat and $250 for a pair. The application requires the following information: ABOUT YOU: - Name - Birthdate - Address - Contact Number - Email ABOUT YOUR HOME: - Type of residence (House, Apartment, Other) - Number of people living in the household and their ages - Number of floors in your home and whether there are stairs - Location where the animal will be living ABOUT YOUR VETERINARIAN: - Do you have a veterinarian? (Yes/No) - Name of the animal hospital - Name of the veterinarian and contact number - Address of the veterinary clinic - Do you have an emergency 24-hour hospital? (Yes/No) - Name of the emergency hospital - Name of the emergency veterinarian and contact number - Address of the emergency hospital Applicants must confirm their willingness and ability to provide necessary medical care for the animal. PREVIOUS ANIMAL(S): - Have you previously cared for animals? (Yes/No) - If yes, specify types and ages of those animals - If no longer in your care, please explain what happened to them The following agreement must be initialed after reading: 1. The cat will not be declawed under any circumstances. 2. The cat will be treated as a family member and kept safe from potential hazards. 3. Basic necessities including a clean environment, housing, bedding, carrier, food, water, litter box, and medical care will be provided. 4. Regular veterinary care for vaccinations, check-ups, illness, and end-of-life care will be ensured. 5. Any new animal brought into the home will be spayed or neutered. 6. Microchip registration will be kept current if the cat is microchipped. If not, the adopter agrees to microchip and register the animal promptly. 7. The cat will not be sold, traded, or given away, and if the adopter can no longer care for the cat, it will be returned to the sanctuary. 8. The cat will not be confined to small spaces for extended periods. 9. The cat will not be used for experimentation, as bait for fighting dogs, for fur production, ritual killings, consumption, or sexual purposes. 10. The cat will not be left alone in a vehicle at any time to prevent theft or harm. 11. Enrichment and stimulation will be provided, and the adopter will seek assistance from professionals if behavioral issues arise. 12. A photo of the cat will be sent once it is settled in. By signing the contract, the adopter affirms that all statements on the adoption application are true, certifies they have not been convicted of animal cruelty, and understands the conditions under which the pet may be repossessed. The adopter releases the sanctuary from all liability for injuries sustained while the cat is in their care. By signing, the adopter acknowledges understanding and agreement to all terms.
