Pawsitive Connections Inc in Fresno, CA

Pawsitive Connections Inc. is a no-kill, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing dogs and cats. Each year, we facilitate the adoption of approximately 300 dogs and provide permanent support for non-adoptable dogs who remain in our sanctuary due to behavioral or medical issues. We also care for a feral cat colony and adopt out several litters annually. Based in Kingsburg, California, we travel every Saturday to San Jose to host adoption events, extending our reach to address the high number of homeless pets in the Central Valley. For the past ten years, we have consistently made this trip to increase the chances of adoption for these animals. Founded in Spring 2010, we offer quarantine and fostering services for dogs while adhering to appropriate vaccination schedules and ensuring any necessary medical care is provided. All animals in our care are microchipped and spayed or neutered prior to adoption. As an independent rescue, we collaborate with Central Valley animal shelters, which often face overcrowding, particularly with large breed adult dogs that are at greater risk of euthanasia due to limited space. We accept dogs of all breeds and sizes, from puppies to seniors, based on our capacity. Currently, many of the large breed adult dogs we rescue may stay with us for extended periods, sometimes months or even years, due to lower adoption interest, as these dogs require more resources. We also assist with medical cases when funding allows, as shelters frequently lack the resources for necessary treatments and often cannot provide the round-the-clock care required for longer recovery periods. Without our intervention, these dogs face a higher risk of euthanasia. Additionally, puppies are often at risk in shelter environments due to their vulnerability to diseases such as parvo and distemper. We respond quickly to pleas for help with puppies, typically picking them up within a day to reduce their exposure to these risks. We also support the community by accepting owner-surrendered dogs when space permits. Our Last Litter Program directly addresses the issue of unwanted litters by working with owners. We spay the mother dog, who remains with her owner, and take in her puppies. If the owner has other female dogs, we often arrange for them to be spayed as well. Once each dog is medically and behaviorally prepared for adoption, we strive to place them in their ideal forever homes.
