Adoption Process

The Cat Network, Inc. offers an adoption referral program exclusively for its members, aimed at helping to find homes for rescued stray cats and kittens. Potential adopters undergo a comprehensive screening process, which includes phone interviews and in-person evaluations at events. Membership is a prerequisite for participation in this program, and the following rules must be strictly adhered to: Membership is required. Kittens under the age of 8 weeks are not eligible for adoption. Cats must be spayed or neutered if they are 4 months or older, or at least 3 months old at the time of adoption. For kittens under 3 months who have not been sterilized, a $50 deposit in the form of a check made out to Cat Network, Inc. is required from the adopter. This deposit will be refunded upon receipt of proof that the kitten has been spayed or neutered by the age of four months. Cats must be tested for Feline leukemia (FeLV) and Feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV). Cats must be free of intestinal parasites, mange, ringworm, and ear mites. Cats must be vaccinated with FVRCP at the time of listing; if they are 4 months or older, a rabies vaccination is also required. Cats must be fostered indoors at all times until they are adopted into a permanent home. Cats must be listed with the adoption line by providing the animal's name, description, date of birth, gender, and sterilization status. If testing and vaccinations were performed outside of Cat Network, the listing must be submitted by Wednesday to qualify for showing on Saturday. The foster parent must deliver the cat to its new home, with potential exceptions. New participants in the adoption program must provide their name, phone number(s), geographical area (e.g., South, North), and preferences regarding 1) indoor only, indoor/outdoor, or outdoor; 2) the presence of children under 6, children under 12, or no children; and 3) whether they will allow declawing. Proof of testing and vaccination must be provided through veterinary records or by bringing the cats to one of Cat Network's veterinary clinics. Arrangements should be made by contacting the clinic coordinator. Upon adoption, both the foster parent and the adopter will sign a contract, and an adoption donation of $65 for non-microchipped cats or $70 for microchipped cats will be collected. Higher fees may apply for purebred cats. A copy of the contract must be returned to Cat Network, while the foster parent should keep a copy of the contract and the medical record for their records. All adoptions are returnable if the cat is unsuitable for the new household for any reason. It is the responsibility of the foster parent to take the cat back, assist the adopter in finding another home, or find a foster home until a permanent placement is secured. Foster parents are responsible for showcasing their cats to prospective adopters, whether at their homes, the adopter's residence, or during promotional events such as pet shows and festivals. Monthly show schedules can be obtained at general meetings or via the Cat Network website. Foster parents must register with the show coordinator prior to exhibiting any cats. They should bring a show cage or arrange to borrow one from Cat Network, if available. It is essential to wear a clean, unwrinkled Cat Network shirt at all events and to maintain a professional appearance at all times.

The Cat Network, Inc in Miami, FL

The Cat Network, Inc. (CN) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization based in Florida, committed to the humane reduction of cat overpopulation. Our mission includes educating the public on the importance of spaying and neutering pets and stray cats, providing access to low-cost spay/neuter services for stray, homeless, and abandoned cats, assisting members in finding loving homes for adoptable cats, and advocating for non-lethal population control and humane public policy. Founded 13 years ago in response to the significant cat population issue in the Miami-Dade area, our founders recognized that controlling the cat population required spaying and neutering as many free-roaming animals as possible. This led to the establishment of our Spay/Neuter program in collaboration with local veterinarians, which subsequently inspired the creation of our adoption program. We are driven by our love for animals and our commitment to educating the public about the importance of spaying and neutering. Additionally, we take great joy in finding loving homes for the cats in our care.
