Fosters & Paws

We began our journey as Sacramento Front Street Animal Shelter Advocates, collaborating with our local shelter to provide funding for essential improvements, including a dental machine. As our organization evolved, so did our focus. While we cherished our work with the shelter, we recognized the need to expand and embrace new challenges. This led to our rebranding as Fosters & Paws, a name that honors our dedicated foster caregivers, without whom we could not save lives. With our new identity, we set out to make a difference. Our first rescue was a mother dog who had recently given birth to five puppies. The shelter can be a chaotic and frightening environment for a mother trying to care for her young. This experience solidified our purpose and passion. We began collaborating with local shelters to rescue pregnant dogs that had been surrendered or abandoned. We provide these mothers with a safe space to give birth and raise their pups. Once the puppies are weaned, we ensure that both mothers and puppies are spayed or neutered and find loving forever homes for them. Between 2019 and 2021, we successfully rescued 60 mothers, preventing them from delivering in the stress of a shelter and finding loving homes for all of them and their puppies. In addition to our focus on mothers, we also rescue dogs with special medical needs, such as those requiring amputations or treatment for parvo. We are particularly attentive to senior dogs, striving to enhance their quality of life for their remaining time. To date, we are proud to have saved over 500 dogs and one kitten. We are committed to continuing our growth and welcoming more members into our family. Our mission is to rescue animals with integrity and compassion, prioritizing the well-being of both animals and people. Our vision is to create an environment where all animals are safe and loved. Our values include treating others with respect, leading by example, maintaining transparency, doing what is right, advocating for our community, treating animals as friends, and ensuring that no mother is left behind.
