NorCal German Shepherd Rescue dba ShepHeroes in West Sacramento, CA

We are dedicated owners of German Shepherd Dogs who operate a volunteer-driven 501(c)(3) rescue organization focused on improving the lives of at-risk German Shepherds in our communities. Our management team brings a combined experience of 7 to 10 years in rescue management. We established this new organization to adopt innovative strategies and resources for dog rescue, as our previous organization’s size and structure hindered our ability to keep pace with evolving trends and effectively utilize available resources.

Adopting from this shelter

Adoption process

Our adoption fees are set at $400 for puppies aged 12 months and under, $350 for dogs between 1 and 6 years old, and $200 for dogs aged 7 years and older. We require a thorough adoption application and conduct home visits to ensure that adopters are matched appropriately with dogs and puppies. Additionally, our adoption agreements stipulate that if for any reason an adopter can no longer keep the dog, it must be returned to us.

Service area: We serve Northern California, including the following counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, El Dorado, Marin, Monterey, Napa, Placer, Sacramento, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Solano, Sonoma, and Yolo. Additionally, we provide limited coverage in the Ft. Bragg area of Mendocino County and the Lake Tahoe region of Washoe County, Nevada. Please note that our area of coverage may vary depending on the availability of volunteer resources.
