Adoption Process

The adoption fee is $175, which is negotiable and includes spaying or neutering, vaccinations, and a microchip. Typically, we encourage potential adopters to foster the animal before finalizing the adoption to ensure a good match. We have both foster and adoption agreements in place. The process generally involves several meetings, a home visit, a trial fostering period, and then the final adoption.

Redwood Pals Rescue in McKinleyville, CA

Redwood Pals Rescue is an all-volunteer organization committed to supporting the rescue and adoption of animals at risk in the Humboldt County Animal Shelter. Our mission also includes improving the quality of life for these animals. We fund essential training for rescue and shelter dogs on a weekly basis, provide boarding services when the number of dogs needing rescue exceeds our available foster homes, and cover the costs of spaying and neutering when grant funding is depleted. Additionally, we handle medical expenses for our rescue dogs, supply food when our generous foster families are unable to, and provide leashes, treats, and other necessary items that enhance the lives of our rescue and shelter animals.
