Adoption Process

Mending Fences offers a straightforward adoption process that begins with the completion of an adoption application. This application includes general questions about pet ownership, helping us to understand you and your family better. After reviewing your application, if approved, we will arrange a meeting for you and your family with the pet you are interested in. We strongly encourage you to bring your current pets to this initial meeting to ensure compatibility among all family members. Please be aware that most of our pets may require a home visit based on specific circumstances. In some cases, we collaborate with other rescue organizations to facilitate this requirement outside our local area. Home visits are conducted to verify the security of your yard and to assist with puppy-proofing if you are adopting a puppy. Additionally, if you rent your home, we will need confirmation from your landlord that pets are permitted and that the specific pet you wish to adopt is acceptable to the property owner. Once the application and home visit, if necessary, are completed, we will finalize the Pet Adoption Agreement and collect the adoption fee. Please note that our adoption fees vary, so we encourage you to ask about the fees for each animal. At Mending Fences, our goal is to help you find a family pet that fits your lifestyle, ensuring a positive and successful adoption experience. We appreciate your consideration of making one of our pets a part of your family and look forward to making the adoption process a rewarding experience for both you and the animals.
