Adoption Process

After reviewing the online application submitted by interested families, we conduct an interview and arrange a visit or home inspection. Once approved, there is an adoption fee ranging from $150 to $400, depending on the age and type of dog, along with the signing of an adoption agreement.

One Planet Rescue in San Jose, CA

Established in 2017, One Planet Rescue is a relatively new organization, but its founder, Farah Ravon, brings extensive experience to the rescue community. Farah has dedicated many years to volunteering with local rescue organizations and has served as the U.S. Representative and Foreign Adoption Coordinator for Vafa Animal Shelter for over six years. This background has equipped her with valuable skills in rescuing animals globally. At One Planet Rescue, we focus on providing immediate care for injured and special needs dogs and cats. Many of these animals come from international locations, and we prioritize their health by ensuring they are fully vaccinated and spayed or neutered before transport, with the exception of puppies and kittens. While we are open to local rescue cases, our policy for international rescues includes a foster-to-adopt requirement. This approach helps determine whether the rescue animal is a suitable match for the adopting family. If it is not a good fit, the animal will be returned to a One Planet Rescue foster home. One Planet Rescue operates without a physical facility. Instead, we rely on individual sponsorships to support our mission of rescuing animals from around the world. By working exclusively with foster families, we can allocate our donation funds directly to essential expenses related to the welfare of the pets, such as domestic transportation, veterinary care, and foster support.
