Adoption Process

Potential adopters undergo a preliminary screening over the phone and then have the opportunity to meet the cats in their foster homes. If the meeting suggests a good match, an adoption application is provided. The adoption fee is $75 for one cat or $100 for a bonded pair.

Cat Town in Oakland, CA

Cat Town was established by dedicated volunteers from Oakland Animal Services, the municipal shelter in Oakland. Our mission is to rescue cats that are at high risk of being euthanized due to their inability to cope with the stress of the shelter environment or because they are deemed "unadoptable." This includes cats that are shy, stressed, sick, or elderly. We place these cats in foster homes where they can feel comfortable, reveal their true personalities, and ultimately find loving adoptive homes.
