Adoption Process

We rescue dogs that are at risk of euthanasia. Each dog is microchipped, brought up to date on vaccinations, and spayed or neutered before adoption. The adoption process begins with a four-page application to help us match families with the right dog. We conduct meet and greet sessions at our adoption center to ensure a safe environment for the dogs. A home check is then performed, followed by the signing of an adoption contract. The adoption fees are $300 for adult dogs and $350 for puppies. We also conduct a follow-up home visit two weeks after the adoption to check on the dog's adjustment. Additionally, we include six training classes with every adoption, which are mandatory for puppies. After a dog is adopted, we continue to work closely with the family to ensure a successful integration and a good fit for everyone involved.

Service Areas

We rescue dogs from high-kill shelters throughout Southern California. Families interested in adopting come to our location to meet the dogs. Our adoptions primarily take place within California, but we also have adopters in Arizona and Montana. The majority of our adopters are residents of Southern California.

NikaPower, Inc DBA The Rescued Pup Boutique in Ramona, CA

NikaPower, Inc. is the organization behind our rescue efforts. Initially, we hosted adoption events at pet stores and through private showings and public gatherings. However, we found that these events were often very stressful for our dogs, except for the private showings. In response, we sought a physical storefront and discovered an ideal location near our home, leading to the establishment of The Rescued Pup Boutique. To cover our operational costs, we increased our adoption fees, and this change has proven successful, allowing us to find homes for over 60 dogs since February of this year. We chose a different name for our adoption center to enhance marketing efforts and clarify our mission. In addition to facilitating adoptions, our boutique offers various items for sale, with all proceeds supporting our rescue initiatives. All staff members are volunteers who dedicate their time without compensation. We view this as an excellent opportunity to engage the community in volunteering and to educate the public on the importance of vaccinations, spaying or neutering pets, and microchipping. Our location is situated in a more rural area of San Diego, yet we attract visitors from various regions. The dogs come to the boutique daily and return to their foster homes each night, ensuring they are not kept in shelter-like conditions. Visitors are encouraged to interact with the dogs by playing, walking, cuddling, or simply spending time with them. We provide a comfortable space where dogs are welcome on the couches, allowing for a relaxed atmosphere. We have developed a loyal group of regular visitors who come specifically to enjoy time with the dogs. This interaction not only helps socialize the dogs but also offers a therapeutic experience for the community, providing a wonderful way to unwind after a busy day.
