Adoption Process

SPOT offers adoption for puppies at a fee of $225 and for dogs at $175, with discounts available for seniors, applicable to both animals and people. Kittens are available for adoption at $125, while the fees for teenagers and adult cats are lower. During kitten season, we frequently have special pricing. To initiate the adoption process, you will need to complete an adoption application. Following this, we will schedule a home safety visit to ensure that your home and yard are free of potential hazards. We will also arrange a meet and greet so that all family members can meet the new pet before finalizing the adoption.

Service Areas

San Diego North County SPOT, or Saving Pets One at a Time, is a young, all-volunteer grassroots organization established in March 2010 with the mission of saving the lives of dogs and cats. Based in Oceanside, California, we primarily rescue animals from local San Diego shelters. However, due to the significant need created by the challenging economic conditions, we have expanded our efforts to include rescues from throughout Southern California.

Saving Pets One at a Time in Oceanside, CA

SPOT was established to address the urgent need to rescue animals that are overlooked by the existing shelter system. Local shelters often face overwhelming numbers of stray and surrendered animals, leading to space shortages and the unfortunate euthanasia of thousands of healthy animals each year. Many of these animals simply require placement in a loving home. Some may have medical needs that are manageable, while others may exhibit moderate behavioral issues. SPOT collaborates with specialists to address these behaviors before placing the animals in permanent homes. Ultimately, SPOT is dedicated to saving these lives.
