Adoption Process
Prospective adoptive families are required to complete an online application, participate in a telephone interview, and undergo a home visit prior to the placement of a German Shepherd in their forever home. The minimum adoption donation is between $300 and $400, which only partially covers the costs associated with veterinary care, boarding fees, and other expenses related to the temporary care and adoption of our dogs. This donation is tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. Before placement, all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are typically microchipped. If microchipping is not performed beforehand, arrangements will be made on a case-by-case basis. Special consideration may be given to families willing to adopt older dogs or those with physical challenges. Each dog undergoes an initial examination, which includes vaccinations for Rabies, DHLPP-C, and Bordetella. Our adoption process starts with the completion of an online application, followed by a phone screening, and concludes with a home visit conducted by our volunteers.

Coastal K9 German Shepherd Rescue in San Diego, CA
Coastal German Shepherd Rescue of Southern California is a non-profit 501(c)(3) public charity focused on finding loving homes for abandoned German Shepherds. Donations made to our organization are tax-deductible and go directly to support these deserving animals. Coastal serves communities in San Diego, Orange, Los Angeles, and the Inland Empire. Our organization is dedicated to providing new beginnings for homeless German Shepherds who have been abandoned, neglected, abused, or relinquished by their owners, as well as those left at local shelters facing uncertain futures. We are committed to finding permanent, loving homes for the orphaned dogs in our care. As an all-volunteer, no-kill organization, we strive to make a positive impact in the lives of these animals. Our mission includes educating the public about German Shepherds, covering aspects such as their lifespan, personality, activity level, and the importance of responsible dog ownership. We also aim to raise awareness about animal overpopulation through education, training, and promoting spaying and neutering. Our team works diligently to match each dog with suitable adoptive families.
