Adoption Process

Terriers in Rescue are in significant need of suitable homes for Jack Russell Terriers (JRTs). While these dogs may require some special attention, adopting a terrier in need can be more fulfilling than bringing home a new puppy. It is important to consider the following points regarding the adoption process for a Jack Russell Terrier. First, potential adopters should review the "Bad Dog Talk," which outlines the challenges that may arise from owning a JRT. Every applicant must complete an adoption form, available both online and in printed format. All rescue dogs require secure containment, such as a fence or kennel. We do not place dogs in homes with children under six years old, and few of our dogs are compatible with cats. Additionally, we seldom place terriers of the same sex together due to the potential for fighting. We do not recommend JRTs for metropolitan living environments, nor do we suggest placing terriers in situations where they will be left alone for extended periods. All applicants undergo a thorough screening process and must meet specific qualifications before being considered for a terrier. It is important to note that compatible terriers may not be available immediately, and we appreciate your patience during this process. Submitting an application does not guarantee that a terrier will be placed with you, as not all homes are suitable for our dogs. Russell Rescue, Inc. retains the right to decline any application in our commitment to making thoughtful and lasting placements for each terrier. Lastly, all terriers in our rescue program are spayed or neutered, and an adoption fee is required for the adoption process. To begin the adoption process, please complete our online adoption application. Your application will be reviewed by a Russell Rescue, Inc. representative assigned to your state. If approved, you will be contacted as soon as possible. Thank you for considering adopting a JRT.

Russell Rescue No. Ca. in Carmichael, CA

Russell Rescue, Inc. (RRI) is a network of dedicated volunteers committed to finding permanent homes for unwanted or abandoned Jack Russell Terriers. The organization coordinates emergency rescues across the country and gathers information to facilitate appropriate matches between dogs and suitable permanent or temporary homes. RRI is funded through donations and is supported by Jack Russell Terrier enthusiasts and volunteers worldwide. The organization focuses on several key activities: RRI works to protect Jack Russell Terriers by educating pet owners and breeders about the specific needs of the breed to prevent displacement. The organization offers guidance and support to owners seeking to retain their pets and assists them in avoiding the surrender of their Jack Russell Terriers. RRI provides temporary care and support for Jack Russell Terriers surrendered by owners who can no longer care for them, as well as those housed in shelters. This includes offering temporary foster homes and referring knowledgeable adopters to dogs in need. RRI places Jack Russell Terriers in suitable homes where they can thrive as the breed they are meant to be, ensuring that their quality of life supports a long, safe, and healthy lifestyle. When necessary, RRI also compassionately releases terriers from suffering and pain when it is in the best interest of the animal. As the State Representative, I coordinate rescues, foster homes, and adoptions for the organization.
