Adoption Process

Our adoption process consists of several steps designed to ensure a successful match between you and a Boxer. Step 1: Begin by exploring our available Boxers. Read their biographies to find one that aligns with your lifestyle. If you do not find a perfect match, proceed to Step 2 to identify the characteristics of the Boxer that would suit you best. Step 2: Complete an application form. In this form, please specify the name of the Boxer you are interested in or express your interest in joining a waiting list for a Boxer that meets your desired criteria. Step 3: If your application is approved, we will contact you via phone or email to arrange a meeting with the Boxer. This meeting will also allow you to assess compatibility with your current pets and family members. Note that Step 4 may occur concurrently with this step. Step 4: If the initial meeting goes well, a BOCAR volunteer will conduct a home visit to ensure your living environment is safe and suitable for the Boxer. In some cases, modifications may be requested to prevent potential escape routes or other safety concerns. Step 5: If all steps are successfully completed, it will be time for the finalization of the adoption. You will need to sign a contract, which states that if you can no longer care for the Boxer, it must be returned to BOCAR. Additionally, an adoption donation or fee between $200 and $400 will be required, depending on the Boxer. After this, your new furry friend will be ready to come home with you. Please note that we primarily adopt to residents of Orange County and some nearby areas, provided that the distance allows for a home visit.

Service Areas
